A survey of genres of literature combined with the development of composition skills appropriate to the 9th grade.
English II
A study of various genres ofliterature combined with the development of composition skills appropriate to the 10th grade.
English III
A survey course in American literature from the Puritan Era to the present, combined with the development of composition skills.
English IV
A survey course of British literature from Beowulf to the present, combined with the development of composition skills.
Honors I, II, III, IV
Course curriculum with further emphasis on critical analysis of literature and the development of advanced style techniques in composition.
Advanced Placement English
A college level course based on intense study of language and literature with the purpose of preparing students for the AP English exams. The course includes intensive study of representative works of various genres and periods, concentrating on works of recognized merit.

Literature
Tailored to student interest, the semester course focuses on topics such as Dante’s Divine Comedy, Shakespeare’s writings, Science Fiction, “Southern” Literature, Epic poems, or Murder Mysteries.
Grammar & Composition
For the student whose grammar and/or composition skills are below grade level, this course prepares the student to write compositions of varying lengths, paying special attention to spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and organization.
