World Literature
A comprehensive, in depth course in the great writings from countries other than Britain and the U.S. Selections include The Iliad, The Aeneid, The Confessions of St. Augustine, Arabian Nights, The Song of Roland and The Divine Comedy. Other authors include: Cervantes, Goethe, Hugo, Ibsen, Camus, Achebe and Solzhenitsyn.
Creative Writing - The Short Story
A study of Literary Elements and Archetypes common to the short-story genre.
Creative Writing - Nonfiction
A study of Informative, Expository, Narrative, and Persuasive essay writing.
Studies In Literature - Shakespeare
A study of the Bards Life, times, and major texts.
Studies In Literature - Science Fiction
A study of “Dystopia” (defined as ” a fictional place, state, or situation in which conditions are dreadful…”).
Grammar & Composition
For the student whose grammar and/or composition skills are below grade level. It prepares the student to write compositions of varying length, paying special attention to spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and organization.
