Foreign Language
Spanish I
Beginning Spanish course utilizing oral and written activities that can be used as starting points for communication and introducing the countries and cultures in which the language is spoken.Spanish II
Continuation of an introduction to Spanish, organized around the language functions of listening, speaking, reading and writing. History, contemporary culture and current events are included.
Spanish III
An intermediate course to expand communication skills through the study of structure and vocabulary. Exploration of Hispanic arts, music, literature, and current events is continued.
AP Spanish
An advanced language, writing, and literature course in preparation for the Advanced Placement Exams.
Latin I
A beginning course stressing English word derivatives coming from Latin and basic elements of grammar.
Latin II
An intermediate level course continues as Latin I translations reflect Roman history, heroes and gods.
Latin III
A course for advanced students with emphasis on derivatives and grammar. Includes more difficult translations about Caesar, Jason and The Punic Wars.
Japanese I
Introduction of Japanese culture, customs, writing systems and communication skills using various useful expressions and basic grammar.
Japanese II
Practice in various daily expressions, while learning counting systems, elementary conjugation of verb and adjectives, Katakana writing system and the culture.
Japanese III
Study Kanji in addition to Hiragana and Katakana and expanded verb conjugation (conditional, potential form) and grammar to improve communication skills.
Japanese IV
Advanced study of Japanese communication skills, literature and grammar
French I
First year students learn conversational language, as well as, French customs and protocol. Some writing skills are introduced during the first year along with games, movies, magazines, and other areas of interest all written and read in French.
French II
More instruction in writing and conjugation of verbs is introduced during the second year of instruction with continued use of the spoken language in the classroom. Field trips to foreign movies and stage plays may be utilized to further introduce the students to the customs and lifestyle of the French
